Heikko Hammel scores pole for Deutscher Tourenwagen Cup Race 1
Heikko Hammel has put his Wolf Racing Ford Fiesta ST on pole position for the first race of the Deutscher Tourenwagen Cup, almost a second clear of Kai Jordan’s MINI John Cooper Works.
The German lapped the Oschersleben circuit with a time of 1:39.438, 0.960 faster than Jordan, who is taking part in both the DTC and the TCR Germany series this weekend at the east German circuit.
Third fastest in the top tier Superproduction class was Milenko Vukovic in his Audi A3 ahead of Alexander Rambow in the Kia Pro Cee’d GTR, with Kia team-mate Christian Schmitz in fifth.
In Production 1 (1.6 litre cars), Alf Ahrens was fastest in his Citroën DS3 ahead of Dirk Lauth’s MINI JCW with Dominique Schaak third, while the Volkswagen Scirocco-only Production 2 class pole sitter was Thomas Mühlenz.
Race 1 takes place at 15:35 CET.
