Setup changes handed Pepe Oriola double win in Bahrain

2015 TCR International Series runner-up Pepe Oriola scored a remarkable double win in the season opener in Bahrain. The Spaniard is obviously very satisfied with the outcome of the weekend.

“It’s true that yesterday I was a little bit upset for missing the pole, but having won the two races, I think I can be satisfied!”, said the Craft-Bamboo Lukoil driver. “Today was again a very intense race and I had a lot of fun fighting with Gleason and Nash, and luckily everything went well.”

After a bit of a messy start, Oriola felt he stood no chance to win the race: “My start wasn’t good, because of some clutch issues, so I was aiming at the podium but nothing more.”

A key setup change meant the tyre problems experienced yesterday did not show up, giving the Spaniard confidence to attack: “After we have changed the set up, the tyres stayed good into the race and that gave me confidence to push.”

Oriola now has 51 points to his name, 15 more than team-mate James Nash.
