Adam Morgan aiming for 2016 independents’ crown

Adam Morgan is hoping that a winter of pre-season testing will give him a good footing to continue his run of form after a strong 2015.

The Ciceley Racing driver was speaking after the unveiling of the team’s new 2016 livery at the Autosport International Show, and said that he believes 2016 will be very hard to predict with the introduction of the new RML components.

“We had a good year last year with a lot of podiums and fastest laps and a couple of wins as well,” he told TouringCarTimes. “Like everyone we’ve been working our socks off over the winter and hopefully a bit more testing and hit the ground running. It’s a bit difficult to predict with all the new RML components, which I think the majority of the top teams have switched to, but we’ll see how we go.”

The plan for the remainder of the off-season for Morgan will now be a host of testing as the young race-winner plans to attack the Independents’ crown, having finished third in 2015 behind Colin Turkington and Jason Plato, both of whom will now be competing as manufacturer entries in 2016.

“We’ve just had one real test at Donington for a shakedown with all the new stuff on, but we’re just trying different things,” continued Morgan. “The initial feelings of the new parts felt pretty good. I think an Independents win is what I’m aiming for, in terms of the overall championship it’s just so difficult now, some of the teams and drivers are such a competitive championship so to be anywhere near the front in that will be pretty good.”
