Gianni Morbidelli slowed by engine gremlins

Gianni Morbidelli’s tough weekend in Macau continues as the new Honda Civic TCR Step 2 continues to suffer with engine problems.

The Italian was forced out of the first free practice session yesterday as the car had a power steering problem. Going out today, the driver realized the Honda was down on power.

“I have had another problem, this time with the engine,” said a disappointed Morbidelli to TouringCarTimes. “This weekend started the wrong way, and it is going to be hard to put it back in line.”

Morbidelli says the feeling with the set-up was okay, but he cannot trust his sensations due to the problem.

“The car felt okay, but to be honest I don’t think it matters. The car was down on power, so I don’t think it is a real sensation I have. Tomorrow we will have to do qualifying already, and I would be surprised if we could be competitive. I am on the wrong side of luck again.”

The team will now investigate to try to solve the problem: “We will look at the data and see what the real problem is. It’s not always easy, but I trust my team will be able to find out what is going on and fix it. I will try my best and we will go from there.”
