Dean Canto replaces Ash Walsh for Phillip Island
Dean Canto is going to replace Ash Walsh at Erebus Motorsport for this weekend’s V8 Supercars races at Phillip Island.
“When I was approached by the team to see if I could help out at Phillip Island I grabbed the chance. As a race car driver, you jump at the opportunity to get into a car so I was more than happy to help out and do my bit,” said Canto.
The team is hoping for Canto to assist them in improving overall pace as Walsh has struggled this season, currently placed last of the regular drivers in the championship.
“In order to operate at the highest level in this Series, there can be no substitute for hardened race miles which was key to selecting Canto. We are working with Ash to improve results both for him and for the team,” said Barry Ryan of Erebus Motorsport.
Canto drove with David Reynolds in the endurance races this year and is reported to be headed for Rod Nash Racing next season as Reynolds has signed for Erebus.
