Andrew Jordan signs with Motorbase Performance for 2016

Andrew Jordan will race for Motorbase Performance in the 2016 British Touring Car Championship.

The 2013 champion will make the switch to the Ford squad after spending a single season with the Triple Eight Racing works MG outfit, finishing fifth in the standings despite being the only driver in the top ten not to win a race in 2015.

His move will also bring title sponsor Pirtek to Motorbase, a much needed major sponsor after the Kent squad were forced to miss the first half of the 2015 season after in part due to losing principal sponsor Airwaves at the end of 2014.

“The car is obviously very quick and looks very well sorted,” said Jordan. “From what I’ve seen, it looks after its tyres very well and carries the extra weight well.”

“You need to have a passion to succeed in the BTCC and we want to be with a team that really wants to win. David (Bartrum) and the team at Motorbase have that passion and determination,” Jordan continued.

“I want to arrive at race weekends knowing that we’re going to be in a position to challenge for race wins.”

Team principal David Bartrum added:

“It’s great to have Andrew on board. He’s a fantastic driver with a proven BTCC pedigree and has all of the right ingredients to help Motorbase Performance push on and challenge for the BTCC crown.

“He’s everything you look for in your driver line-up and as a former champion he understands what is required to compete and win at the very top level.”

The question now remains who will be alongside Jordan at Motorbase in 2016, with both four-time race winner in 2015 Mat Jackson as well as James Cole both targeting retaining their drives at the team which was considered the strongest in the second half of the season.
