Adam Morgan close to confirming 2016 BTCC return

Ciceley Racing’s Adam Morgan says he is close to finalising a return to the British Touring Car Championship in 2016, after becoming the only driver in the field to complete every racing lap in 2015.

Morgan had a strong end to the year in his family-run Mercedes A-Class, qualifying third on Saturday and finishing third in both race one and two on Sunday.

His sixth place in the finale helped him cement a career-best seventh in the overall standings, and third in the independents’ championship.

Morgan says he is already looking to next season, and plans are already nearly in place to allow this to happen.

“I think we’ve pretty much signed all of our sponsors again for next year, which is really nice to get done early on,” said Morgan to TouringCarTimes.

“It’s just about preparation for next year. We start planning for the new stuff from RML, start testing and hopefully hit the ground running at the start of next year.

“It is a nice feeling. You can start putting a nice plan into place. Wix [signing a deal to return] was massive, a great help and they are great to work with.”

Asked about his aims for next season, Morgan added: “I think my next step now is the independents’ win. It’s a big ask when you’ve got these manufacturers about, but it’s definitely next on the list.”
