TCR added as new class to the Nürburgring 24 Hours
TCR specification cars have been added as a new class to the legendary endurance race Nürburgring 24 Hours, starting next year.
“We have always been open for new categories and concepts, like diesel vehicles, alternative-drive concepts or the GT3, shortly after their definition as a category by the FIA,” said Walter Hornung, Race Director of the Nürburgring 24 hour race.
All homologated TCR cars can take part in the endurance race without any additional technical changes from 2016.
“In their maiden season, TCR cars have already proved the perfect combination of providing close and exciting sprint races with reasonable running costs. Their participation in the ADAC Zurich 24h-Race will prove that they are both reliable and have the performance to appear in long distance races as well,” said Marcello Lotti, TCR promoter.
The TCR regulations are set to be ratified as the new FIA TCN-2 category by the FIA World Motor Sport Council later this month, as we reported on previously.
