Gianni Morbidelli: “I did the best I could”

Gianni Morbidelli took his WestCoast Racing Honda Civic on the podium after a race-long fight with title rival Pepe Oriola.

While expectations were high for Singapore, a combination of jet-lag and a heavy cold put extra pressure on the Italian who, with the heat and humidity of the Asian city, struggled to breathe.

“Unfortunately I’m sick, I’m not feeling really well and I struggled all through the race,” admitted a tired Morbidelli. “I cannot breathe and it was very tough for me.”

Besides his health struggles, Morbidelli believes the podium is a nice result: “I couldn’t do any better than this really, so finishing on the podium is a good result anyway.”

Morbidelli’s gap from the lead extends to 41 points, making his title chase even more difficult.
