Gordon Shedden given four-place penalty for qualifying infringement

Honda Yuasa Racing’s Gordon Shedden has been given a four-place drop on the grid for the first race tomorrow at Rockingham, which promotes Triple Eight’s Jack Goff to third, Speedworks Toyota’s Tom Ingram to fourth, and points leader Jason Plato to fifth in his Team BMR Volkswagen CC.

When the qualifying session resumed with five minutes to go following a late red flag, Shedden jumped past two of the Team BMR Volkswagens to leave the pit lane third in sequence, which was a breach of the pit lane procedure.

The 2012 champion returned to the pits on his outlap and changed his front and rear tyres over, giving the Scotsman enough time to complete just one flying lap with warmed up rears, which then moved him up to third on the grid.

Shedden will now start the first race from seventh on the grid following the penalty, starting behind Honda team-mate Matt Neal.
