Touring car stars to turn back the clock at Goodwood
A host of names from the world of motorsport, including a number of top touring car drivers, will be in action at the ever-popular St Mary’s Trophy at the Goodwood Revival Meeting.
The two-part race always attracts a strong grid, and 2015’s running will be no different. After last year’s race saw the 1950s celebrated, this year’s will focus on the period between 1960-66.
Already confirmed are a pair of Ford Galaxies, seven Mini Cooper Ss, five BMW 1800s and five Lotus Cortinas, as well as Ford Anglias, Jaguar Mk2s, a Mercedes 300SE, a Fiat Abarth and even an Isuzu Bellett.
Stepping behind the wheel of the impressive grid of cars will be some of motorsport’s top names, not least those from the world of touring car racing.
Three-time World Touring Car champion Andy Priaulx, former BTCC champions Jason Plato & Andrew Jordan and BTCC race winners Darren Turner, Steve Soper and “Mr Le Mans” Tom Kristensen.
Jordan came third in the first race at last year’s event, behind winner Anthony Reid, another former BTCC race winner, and Emanuele Pirro. Mike Jordan took victory in race two, meaning, when both races times were combined, the Jordans took second overall.
Other well known drivers include, Mark Blundell, Jochen Mass, Emanuele Pirro, Mike Conway and Danny Watts, as well as cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy and TV personality Theo Paphitis, who will be making his Revival debut in the St Mary’s Trophy.
