Scott McLaughlin optimistic after best result of 2015
Scott McLaughlin secured his and Volvo’s best V8 Supercars result of 2015 at Queensland Raceway and the Kiwi is optimistic for the coming races after a dreadful start to the season.
”To get a podium and finish all three races is a big achievement and a really well deserved result for everyone in the team,” said McLaughlin.
The Volvo Polestar Racing driver finished second in the first race but dropped to ninth in the second race and 13th in the third race.
”We lacked a little bit of turn on the softs, we need to work on that. But all in all this is a step forward in the right direction and we got the endurances races coming up that are all hard tyre, that is where the car feels best on,” said McLaughlin.
McLaughlin is placed 14th in the championship currently, far from the top five where he was last season in the debut year of Volvo. But the Kiwi is nonetheless confident for the coming races.
“I don’t want to speak too soon but I think we have made massive gain. The car is a lot better to drive. We knew coming in here we would be reasonably good as we have always been good here, but it is nice to just confirm that,” said McLaughlin to speedcafe.com.
