Marco Wittmann to test for Toro Rosso

DTM reigning champion Marco Wittmann will finally complete a day of testing in a Formula 1 car when he gets behind the wheel of a Toro Rosso on Wednesday, at the Red Bull Ring.

BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt announced, back at last year’s season finale gala, that Wittmann would get an F1 test as a prize for winning the Drivers’ title, in an impressive manner, for the Bavarian manufacturer.

The test was originally due to take place at Imola in December, but snow and bad weather forced the team to cancel their plans, postponing the test until a later date.

It has now been revealed that Wittmann will be present at the Formula 1 tests due to take place this week at the Red Bull Ring, where the reigning DTM champion will be at the wheel of the STR10, Toro Rosso’s challenger for the current season.

Wittmann competed in several single seater championships, including the Formula 3 Euroseries, before becoming a BMW works driver, making his DTM debut back in 2013.
