Andreas Pfister aiming for an ETCC record this weekend in Slovakia

This weekend, Andreas Pfister has the opportunity to take a record so far unsurpassed in the short history of the FIA European Touring Car Cup, where he could become the first driver to win eight races at the same circuit in any class.

The German driver has won every time out at the Slovakiaring since the race became a part of the ETCC in 2012, where he has competed exclusively in the Single-Make Trophy class for SEAT León Cup cars. This year, the SMT class has effectively become the top tier of the ETCC and will likely be where the fight for overall victory is as well due to the diminished TC2T class for 2015.

“The Slovakia Ring is very special for me,” said Pfister. “The track suits me very well, and I enjoy every kilometre here. Of course, this alone doesn’t mean certain victory, but I start with a good feeling in this weekend.

“I especially remember my victory in 2014, since it started to rain onn the last lap, and it was a really difficult to win this race on slick tyres. Now I’m not looking back but forward.”
