Stefano Comini reprimanded for post-race statement at Monza
Target Competition’s Stefano Comini was found in breach of the International Sporting Code for comments made to TouringCarTimes following the most recent round of the TCR International Series in Monza, and was sentenced to a ‘community service’-style attendance at this morning’s marshals’ briefing.
The Swiss driver, who lost the lead of the championship after a disastrous weekend one week ago at Monza in Italy, made comments following the race which vented his frustration with the driving behaviour of WestCoast Racing’s Gianni Morbidelli, and threatened to have “private justice” on the Italian at this weekend’s race. For the full interview, see here.
Morbidelli decided to not to be drawn on the matter when asked for comment, only stating that he saw his moves were fair, and no action was taken by the stewards of the meeting.
Comini was found in breach of Article 12.1.1.f, which states:
Any words, deeds or writings that have caused moral injury or loss to the FIA, its bodies, its members or its executive officers.
And under Article 12.3.1.c, which allows the FIA to issue penalties which include an “obligation to accomplish some work of public interest”, Comini was ordered to attend the marshals’ briefing at the Salzburgring at 07:00 CET and welcome them and thank them for their work on behalf of all TCR’s competitors and the championship.
