Dusan Borkovic switches to ETCC from Hungary

Dusan Borkovic will now compete in the 2015 FIA European Touring Car Cup for this season, which begins next weekend at the Hungaroring, after departing Proteam Racing earlier this week, calling time on his WTCC season after just two race meetings.

The Serbian returns to the ETCC in which he last competed in 2013, where he starting the year with a SEAT León WTCC, taking a race victory at the Salzburgring, before switching to a Chevrolet Cruze mid-season.

Due to problems in his new berth at Proteam during the first WTCC weekends, and with no other options available to continue racing in this season in the championship, the 30-year-old Serbian has returned to the ETCC, where he’ll compete in the Single-Make Trophy class in a SEAT León Cup Racer.

“Last year I got a once in a lifetime chance to move to World championship after only one year in ETCC,” said Borkovic. “I’ve learned a lot last year, improved and I showed it with a podium in Suzuka, Japan. My seating problem is still not solved and there were some issues with the car as well that didn’t seem they will improve for this year, at least not in time for my sponsors and fans to be satisfied with my season.

“I don’t think I am done with WTCC forever, just for now. I want to thank WTCC and my colleagues for all their support.”

“I am glad that I am staying in the Eurosport family with ETCC, in which I am continuing this season. It is a great opportunity for me to test more. I hope for great results and I want to thank my sponsors and city of Pancevo for their support. It is an honour for me to represent my country, sponsors and my hometown and I will continue to do so,” he added.
