Dan Welch out of Brands Hatch with broken foot

Dan Welch will miss the first meeting of the British Touring Car Championship season after breaking his foot in the week leading up to Brands Hatch.

Welch, who is in the paddock today but is on crutches, confirmed on his Facebook page: “Broken foot. I won’t be racing this weekend.”

The news means Welch Motorsport are down to one Proton Gen-2 for Andy Wilmot, and the grid has reduced to 27 cars.

On Wednesday, Infiniti confirmed they would only be bringing one car to the season opener due to technical issues with their second Q50.
