Marc Hynes steps away from BTCC to focus on Manor F1 entry

Marc Hynes will not compete in the 2015 British Touring Car Championship to focus his attention on the rebuilding of the Manor Formula 1 Team, reports AUTOSPORT.

Hynes, who won the 1999 British Formula 3 Championship, raced a Triple Eight Race Engineering run MG6 in 2014, achieving a season-high best result of eighth at Silverstone en route to 18th overall in the standings.

Hynes’ involvement with the Manor team stems from his role as head of driver development at Marussia, the name Manor ran under between 2012 and 2014, achieving just one points scoring finish with Jules Bianchi at the 2014 Monaco Grand Prix.

It is not expected that a third MG will run alongside Andrew Jordan and Jack Goff for 2015. Despite this, there is still a fully subscribed 31-car grid for the upcoming season, although Motorbase will not race until at least Snetterton following funding issues.
