Andrew Jordan and Alex Martin test at Brands Hatch
Andrew Jordan has made his first track appearance in his new Triple Eight Racing MG6, testing at Brands Hatch today alongside Motorbase Performance newcomer Alex Martin.
The 2013 champion is returning to the team he last raced for on 2009, but the identity of his team-mate is yet to be revealed.
Joining Jordan on the Kent circuit was the striking Ford Focus ST of Martin, who joins the BTCC after one full season in the Porsche Carrera Cup, and three years in the Ferrari Challenge.
Martin’s Focus will be running under the Dextra Racing banner, and was also appearing in its new livery for the first time. Previously, Martin ran in a plain yellow paint job for his maiden test in the car.
The BTCC teams will be out in force for the first official pre-season test at Thruxton next Wednesday and Thursday.
“First impressions are that the general feeling’s pretty similar to be honest,” said Jordan.
“It is all the same running gear, so there aren’t too many differences in terms of fundamentals. The Swindon engine has different characteristics to the Honda, which I thought it would based on my experience in 2010. I think the engine will be more challenging to drive, which I’ll enjoy, because the power comes in more aggressively than on the Honda.”
