Lada continues technical partnership with Hexathron
Lada Sport will continue its technical partnership with the Italian Hexathron Racing Systems company, whose CEO Marco Calovolo also acts as the team’s technical director and race engineer for driver James Thompson in 2015, alongside its development partners ORECA for the development of the new Vesta, which will start testing next week.
Hexathron and Calovolo has been working with Lada since its first foray in the FIA World Touring Car Championship in 2009, then introducing the Priora before a two-year break ahead of their return in selected events in 2012 with the Granta.
Following on from their most successful season in the Championship, with the S2000 TC1 class Granta taking its first podium in Argentina, followed by victories in Beijing and Macau, the team will switch to Lada’s new Vesta model for 2015, with all three of its 2014 driver line-up retained, and also their technical partners ORECA and Hexathron.
“I’m really happy to continue our collaboration with LADA Sport and I want to thank Viktor (Shapovalov) and Lada Sport,” said Marco Calovolo, CEO of Hexathron. “The team has increased its overall quality and performance since 2009, and a lot of hard work brought us wins in China and Macau last season. Lada Vesta WTCC is another step forward. Hexathron Racing Systems’ work is not only on the track with the team and its driver, James Thompson, Rob Huff, Mikhail Kozlovskiy, but it continues in our office where we study upgrades and new solutions for the racecars.
“One year ago, the target was to achieve LADA Sport’s first win and we got it. For 2015, we want to stay on top in every race and we have everything to be there.”
