MSA launches tender process for BTCC
The Motor Sports Association (MSA) has launched a tender process for the organisation and promotion of the British Touring Car Championship from 2017.
The current deal with TOCA comes to an end in 2016 and the MSA has invited new bidders, along with TOCA, to run the series from 2017 until at least 2021. All bids are to be delivered to the MSA by April 10 2015.
TOCA, formed in 1990 as TOCA Limited by Alan Gow, has been at the helm of the BTCC since 1991, run by Gow up until 2000, when the company was sold to the American company Octagon Motorsport.
Octagon ran the series up until 2003, resulting in BARC (TOCA) Ltd. to be formed, with Gow reinstated as Managing Director following his three-year sabbatical, and began rebuilding the championship after it had struggled under Octagon.
TOCA also lends its name to the full support package on the BTCC calendar, with the Renault Clio Cup UK, Porsche Carrera Cup GB, Ginetta GT Supercup, Ginetta Juniors and British Formula Ford all forming the TOCA Tour.
