Triple Eight rebrands ahead of BTCC announcement

Triple Eight has announced a rebrand of its team, which it plans to unveil as part of a BTCC announcement later this week.

The UK-based part of the team will now be known as Triple Eight Racing, using a new brand logo across touring car and GT disciplines.

The move comes in the wake of what the team has called an “identity crisis” in recent years, with team names changing due to the requirements of drivers and sponsors. Most recently, BTCC title sponsorship has come from Jason Plato’s deal with Tesco and its KX and Momentum 99 brands.

Bringing about the change is Triple Eight co-owner Lee Mowle and communications manager James Warnette.

Mowle said: “While touring car liveries will always be dictated by key sponsors, this branding was an important exercise for the team to go through to ensure we look respectable off-track as well as on it.

“On track Triple Eight has suffered somewhat of an identity crisis in recent years, with team names changing annually based upon the requirements of drivers, partners and such like.”

Warnette said: “We’re confident it will be received well, but some sceptics will say, ‘if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it’, but the standards of presentation in motorsport increase year on year, and you can’t present to a sponsor with an out-dated brand. This isn’t just about 2015; it’s about the next ten to twenty years too.”

The team is launching a new website at www.tripleeight.co.uk on Monday.
