Marcos Ambrose after Sydney practice: ”A great day”
Marcos Ambrose completed his first three official V8 Supercars practice sessions in Sydney season finale today and summarised it as ”a great day”.
“It has been a great day for us really. Just to get re acclimatised with a V8 Supercar in competition and on a tough track like Homebush has been good. I have just taken my time with it today, but we will know where we stack up tomorrow when we bolt on new tyres,” said Ambrose.
Ambrose was 23rd, 22nd and 24th at about 1.4 seconds behind the top in the three test sessions and admits he has still got a lot to take in.
“So, we will just keep chipping away and get the experience I need. The series is at very elite level with the drivers and teams. I am going to use this time to really dig deep and work on some techniques, clean up some bad habits from NASCAR and hopefully by Sunday afternoon we will be competitive and getting after it,” said Ambrose.
The ambition for Ambrose is to get through his comeback weekend with a mid-pack result and keep building experience ahead of his full-season comeback next year.
“I just want to be in the middle of the pack and keep learning all weekend. We are going to mirror Scott Pye (DJR #16 Falcon) in terms of set up. He looks like he is going really well. I have got to improve in the braking zones and clean my act up a bit behind the wheel. I am really enjoying it and feel a lot better at the end of the day than I did at the start,” said Ambrose.
