Pepe Oriola impressed with TC1 Cruze
Campos Racing driver Pepe Oriola is taking part in his first World Touring Car Championship weekend since he last competed in the series at Macau in a Chevrolet Cruze. The Spaniard impressed the paddock as he emerged as the fastest Chevrolet driver in the TC1 class on his very first outing in the RML-built Cruze.
Coming seventh in Testing and fifth in Free Practice 1, Oriola enjoyed his day.
“I am really happy with today’s results, I didn’t expect them to be so positive because I haven’t raced in a year,” admitted the Spaniard.
“I only did a test session in a SEAT León Eurocup a couple of weeks ago, but for the whole season I never sat in a racing car. I believe today’s performances are not bad at all for me, as I’m still a bit rusty.”
Oriola is positively impressed with the TC1 Cruze, as this is the first time he has ever driven it.
“I am really surprised with the Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1, it’s a great car and it’s really quick!”
Oriola is replacing the injured Dusan Borkovic for the final weekend of the season.
