Adam Morgan delighted with season’s best qualifying

Ciceley Racing’s Adam Morgan hailed a “mega” qualifying performance which saw him net a season’s best fifth on the grid for the first of today’s three races at Brands Hatch.

The former Ginetta Supercup champion timed his charge to perfection, and was on an even faster lap when the red flags flew with just under three minutes to run.

The result tops the previous best of sixth, which Morgan achieved in qualifying at Rockingham.

Speaking to TouringCarTimes, Morgan said: “It was hard work, but we managed to get the slicks on just in time, and get enough temperature into the rears so I could push towards the end.

“We’re obviously really happy with fifth. It’s a mega result.

“You have to adapt to the conditions. The Indy circuit was dry, so you could push a bit harder, and then you’ve got to show a bit of caution around the back through Hawthorn and Dingle Dell.

“We knew it was going to dry – it was a race against time, and we just managed to time it right. I’m just really happy for the team.”

Morgan was in agreement that times would have tumbled yet further if the final minutes of the session had not been lost to a red flag.

“Every lap we were going quicker and quicker. It was going to be a case of whoever crossed the line last was going to be quickest,” he said.
