Rob Huff ‘on top of the world’ after first win for Lada

Rob Huff gave Lada its first ever win in the World Touring Car Championship at Beijing. The Brit took advantage of his pole position and cruised to victory ahead of ROAL Motorsport’s Tom Coronel.

The Russian manufacturer put a large amount of effort in the championship, and Team Principal Victor Shapovalov was thrilled with the result and took it as a reward for the work done by the team:“We have come a long way to achieve this victory and we always believed that LADA would be on the top of the podium!”, said the Russian. “We are extremely happy, and this victory gives us even more drive and motivation for further success!”

Rob Huff was also very emotional at the end of the race, repeating how unbelievable he reckoned the result to be on the radio. After the race the former World Champion said:“I am on top of the world and so thrilled to give LADA Sport its first ever race win in the FIA World Touring Car Championship.”

The short wheelbase proved to suit the Grantas straight away, says the team. Just like Shapovalov, Huff praised the team for the hard work done through the years, but particularly in the last few weeks:“This is a result of all the hard work and determination that has gone in to the project and it shows that, when you keep pushing anything can be achieved. Who would have thought this was doable before Argentina!

The team has worked tirelessly and we have taken a significant step in the right direction in recent weeks and months, as the car has genuinely felt fantastic and, now we have the taste for victory, there’s no telling what’s possible!”

With the new Lada Vesta coming into play next year the team are expected to make further progress ahead of the 2015 season.
