Matt Neal: “The car felt great”

Honda Racing Team’s Matt Neal says his car “felt great” despite qualifying 18th at Silverstone.

The Civic has traditionally struggled on the power-dependent National layout, and this year was no different, with Andrew Jordan, Gordon Shedden and Neal qualifying 16th, 17th and 18th respectively.

All four Hondas were towards the bottom of the speed traps, sometimes around 4mph slower than the Team BMR Volkswagen CCs.

“What can you say? The car felt great, and I couldn’t have taken any more track – as Flash did. We were doing everything we could”, said Neal to TouringCarTimes.

“The traction’s good, and in the fast corners the stability is good.”

Asked what he could do on raceday, Neal added: “We’ve got to make sure we’ve got a good stock of body panels.”
