Nissan Motorsport to run tribute livery at Bathurst
Nissan Motorsport is going to run a tribute livery on the #36 Nissan Altima in the legendary Bathurst 1000 race this year.
“In the past two years at Nissan Motorsport, we’ve done some fantastic activities, but this one tops them all. I feel extremely honoured to carry the Nissan colours from back in 1984,” said driver Michael Caruso.
The livery carries the red and blue Nissan factory colours to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Nissan’s first Bathurst 1000 pole position, claimed with the Nissan Bluebird Turbo.
The pole lap was set by George Fury in 1984 with the time 2:13.85 (last year’s pole time was 2:07.8825), the first non-Ford or General Motors pole and a time which would not get beaten until 1991.
Driver duo Caruso and Dean Fiore is going to race with the tribute livery on the #36 Altima in this year’s Bathurst 1000.
“Last year was great for Nissan to get back to Bathurst. We had our difficulties, but we had very good race pace. This year we’ll have 12 months more experience with the Altima, and we’re coming in with some good form. We are progressing really well and hopefully we can do something special,” said Caruso.
