Holden Racing Team secures multi-year extension with Holden
Holden has confirmed a multi-year extension of their contract with Holden Racing Team in the V8 Supercars.
“Motorsport is part of Holden’s DNA, having raced its products in Australia and overseas with great success for more than 45 years,” said Simon McNamara, GM Holden Motorsport and Sponsorship Manager.
“We’re incredibly proud of the Holden Racing Team – and the success we’ve built together in this sport. We’re certainly looking forward to working hard together over the next few years for more race wins and championships.”
The team is going to celebrate its 25th anniversary next year as a Holden manufacturer team after being founded in 1990 with six ATCC/V8SC drivers’ championship titles and more than 200 race victories since then.
”My dad started the Holden Racing Team 24 years ago and our family is hugely passionate about HRT, so we are fortunate to have a new, multi-year contract with Holden. Our new deal gives us the opportunity as a team to celebrate our 25th anniversary with our loyal partners and fans, which is exciting. Hopefully we can repay Holden’s faith with more race wins and championships,” said team owner Ryan Walkinshaw.
HRT fields two cars in the 2014 V8 Supercars for James Courtney and Garth Tander with Courtney being best placed currently in fourth position with two victories so far.
