Adrien Tambay penalised for Wehrlein Norisring clash
Audi’s Adrien Tambay has been given a 30 second time penalty following his collision with Mercedes’ Pascal Wehrlein at the fourth round of the 2014 DTM season at the Norisring.
Following today’s race at the Norisring, Wehrlein blamed Abt Audi driver, Adrien Tambay, for the contact on lap 69 which saw the Mercedes spin and eventually finish sixth.
“I think that fourth place would have been realistic today,” said Wehrlein after the race. “Unfortunately, Adrian Tambay put me in a spin, damaging the entire left side of my car.
“Nevertheless, I tried to continue to attack and closed on him towards the end, [so] that shows that I was faster than him and makes his actions even harder for me to understand.”
Yesterday Wehrlein accused Tambay’s Abt Audi team-mate, 2 x DTM champion Mattias Ekström, of blocking his hot-lap in qualifying.
Ekström was subsequently given a five-place grid penalty by the stewards.
