Jamie Green: “I wouldn’t like to be the ‘one-trick pony’”
Rosberg Audi’s Jamie Green has said he doesn’t want to be known as a Norisring ‘one-trick pony’ after he qualified third for the fourth round of the 2014 DTM season.
In terms of wins at the Norisring, Green is the most successful driver on the grid after having scored four wins around the streets of Nuremberg between 2008 and 2012.
Green goes into tomorrow’s Norisring race as the best placed Audi driver.
“I wouldn’t like to be the ‘one-trick pony’ and always just be strong at the Norisring,” said Green after qualifying. “Although it’s nice to deliver a good performance for Audi right here [at its home race].”
Green is also confident in the set-up of his Audi RS 5 DTM going into tomorrow’s race.
“The set-up of my car was perfect, and I’m very pleased with grid position three here at the Norisring. I think I did a decent job today, just like the team.
“Of course the race is the most important part, and we’re in a good position in that respect, [so] I’m confident.”
The head of the Audi DTM programme, Dieter Gass, added he hopes tomorrow’s predicted rain and Green’s strong position will allow the Briton to add another Norisring victory to his name, and allow Audi to take its first victory at its home race since 2002.
“Jamie came on strong again today and drove a very consistent qualifying session, [and] particularly in Q3, he did one fast lap after the other.
“We all remember well that he’s fast in rain too, so that’s just one of the reasons why I’m hoping for him to even advance a bit further tomorrow.”
