Heiko Hammel claims Red Bull Ring race two victory

Heiko Hammel claimed the honors in the second ADAC Procar race at Red Bull Ring in Austria which was held in hot conditions of over 30 degrees celsius. The Ford Fiesta driver won the overall race and Division 1, seven seconds ahead of Mini Cooper driver Franjo Kovac.

Race one winner Markus Huggler started from pole position and held the lead until a first safety car period which was caused when Reinhard Nehls’ Mini Cooper stopped on track due to technical problems.

Hammel started to pressure Huggler as the safety car went back in, but Huggler managed to stay ahead until there was two laps left of the race when he was forced to retire due to gearbox problems.

Alexander Rambow won Divison 2 ahead of Nils Mierschke and Andreas Rinke, making it three different manufacturers in the top three with Peugeot ahead of Ford and Citroën.

Steve Kirsch won his second straight race in Division 3, beating Kai Jordan and Thomas Tekaat. The first part of the race saw Tekaat challenging Kirsch for the race lead, but Jordan managed to get up into second place after the safety car period and kept it until the checkered flag.

ADAC Procar continues at Nürburgring on June 19-21.
