Differing views over controversial clash
Richard Göransson was penalised with a drive-through penalty for colliding with Emma Kimiläinen and Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte in the first STCC race at Knutstorp, but the views on what actually happened differs.
”I went on the inside and she (Kimiläinen) closed the door as I was about to pass, she had driven defensively for several laps. There was nowhere to go. Apparently it has been said that Carl Philip spun ahead of Emma and that she went for the inside, but I couldn’t see anything as I am sitting far down in the car,” said Göransson.
PWR Racing driver Kimiläinen had another view of the incident which caused to her retire from the race.
”I had a quite big gap, but I was hit from behind by Göransson. It looked like Carl Philip spun and that there was a gap, but unfortunately Göransson hit me at the same time and the car received a lot of damage,” said Kimiläinen.
Volvo Polestar Racing driver Bernadotte was disappointed to end the race prematurely after gaining a couple of position in the early part of the race.
”I had let Thed (Björk) past me ahead of the corner, then all of a sudden Emma just hit me in the side. I heard from her that Göransson had hit her which caused the incident. The incidents were of course unfortunate, but I was very pleased with the start I made and the pace I held in the race,” said Bernadotte.
