Dušan Borković visits RML to see his new Chevrolet

Serbian driver Dušan Borković has been to RML’s factory in Wellingborough, UK, to try out the team’s simulator and to see the progress of the development of his new TC1 Chevrolet Cruze, with which he will compete in this year’s FIA World Touring Car Championship.

The 29-year-old, who finished third in last year’s FIA European Touring Car Cup in the S2000 standings, makes the jump to the WTCC with Campos Racing this season, driving a new Chevrolet Cruze in the TC1 class, where he will be team-mate to Frenchman Hugo Valente.

Borković, who switched to touring cars from Hill Climb just last season, hopes to get some testing in before the season starts at Marrakech on April 13th.

“I am so happy I’ve been able to see my race car for the first time,” he said. “It was so great to meet the entire RML team who have been working hard to deliver a car with the latest WTCC specifications in such short notice. My car will be ready to test with one week delay, therefore I will travel to Valencia just to observe the official WTCC test, and to support my team-mate Hugo Valente, whose car will have been finished by March 21st.

“RML is a renowned company in the world of car racing, and I have full confidence in them, and in the Campos team. I’m sure they will do everything that they can for us to to do some tests before the first race.”

RML Motorsport Director Ron Hartvelt added:
“The timescales for this programme have been very challenging and it is clear that we have kept the car in the design process for as long as possible to best optimize performance. We are pushing to get the first two cars to Valencia which will then give us feedback and allow us to focus on getting Dusan comfortable in his car ahead of his first test.

“This is a natural consequence of a new car programme, but we are confident that Dusan and Campos will be up to speed before Marrakech.”
