Adam Morgan shines in Brands Hatch test
Ciceley Racing’s Adam Morgan has hailed only the team’s second test with the new Mercedes A-Class at the test session today which saw cars from six other teams taking part, in which, although there was no official timing, it’s believed he was one of the fastest if not the fastest driver of the day.
The seven hour test at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit was interrupted just five times throughout the day. The only significant stoppages were for Speedworks’ Simon Belcher, who had an off at Druids in the morning, and for AmD Tuning’s Dave Newsham, who hit the barriers at Clearways with 30 minutes left.
“It’s only our second test, and our first test we had nothing to compare against as we were on (our own) at Silverstone, but to come here and have some other guys as a comparison, it’s been really a productive day,” said Morgan to TouringCarTimes.
“To be honest it’s the best car I’ve ever driven, these guys have built a stunning race car,” he added.
Looking ahead to his third season in the BTCC, after finishing seventh overall last season and third in the independents’ classification, Morgan admits it’ll be a tough season with the new additions to the grid, which should see a record 31 cars competing in every race.
“(It’d be great) if we could repeat the same sort of results as last year,” said Morgan. “It’s going to be even harder as we have a new car, and there are also new drivers and new teams which also means this year has the chance of being one of the best touring car years, so it’s going to be hard work, but I’m really looking forward to it.”
