Honda reveal new livery and continued Castrol backing

Honda Racing Team JAS has revealed the livery with which the new Honda Civic will compete with in the 2014 FIA World Touring Car Championship season, and also confirms it will continue to have Castrol as a title sponsor in the team’s second full season.

The car, which will again be driven by 2009 champion Gabriele Tarquini and former Formula One driver Tiago Monteiro this season, carries a livery very similar to last year’s entry, but the car is all-new, built to the latest 2014 Super 2000 regulations and will compete in the WTCC’s new TC1 class.

“We are delighted to extend our partnership with Honda after a first successful season in the FIA WTCC with Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro,” said Castrol Global Sponsorship Manager Donald Smith. “For us, there is something special about the coming together of two brands with such rich and successful racing pedigrees. The new livery looks absolutely fantastic, with Castrol and Honda once again sharing the red and the white.”

The team completed a test last week at the Paul Ricard circuit, sharing the track with new rivals Citroën, with Portuguese driver leaving the test happy with the car’s progress.

“We took advantage of the dry conditions and a wet track to spend as much time on the circuit as we possibly could,” said Monteiro. “We also worked on the new tyres, in accordance with the commitments from tyre manufacturer Yokohama. We examined a variety of situations that allow us to be better prepared with each passing day. We now leave Paul Ricard feeling satisfied with our work, however there is still a lot to do,” he added.
