Jack Goff back with Tony Gilham Racing for 2014 campaign
22-year-old Jack Goff will be back in the British Touring Car Championship for a second year this season in the Tony Gilham Racing-run Vauxhall Insignia.
Goff, whose best result came at a dramatic rain-hit finale at Brands Hatch, taking second place while threatening the race leading Honda Civic of outgoing champion Gordon Shedden for the final race of the day, will again be behind the wheel of the Next Generation Touring Car-specification Vauxhall Insignia, originally built by Thorney Motorsport and sold to Tony Gilham’s team last season.
“The last race of the season has certainly helped me over the winter,” said Goff to btcc.net. “I’m lucky in that my sponsors have stuck with me over the last few years – RCIB Insurance, HSL, and all the other guys make this possible, so it’s great to be out there fighting for them again.”
Goff is the first driver to be confirmed for the squad for this season. The team, now owned by Warren Scott and run in partnership with Gilham, ran two ex-Thorney Vauxhall Insignias in 2013 as well as developing a pair of Volkswagen CCs, to be the only four car team in the Championship last year.
“It’s brilliant to have a second year,” added Goff. “We had no testing or development last year, so with every race meeting I was learning the car and the team was learning the set-up, but we had good speed even if we couldn’t show it in all the races.”
