André Couto switches to Audi R8 LMS Cup for Macau

Guia Race veteran André Couto will not, after all, take part in the FIA World Touring Car Championship season finale at Macau with Campos Racing, instead taking up an option to compete in the Audi R8 LMS Cup event.

The 36-year-old Super GT regular had been confirmed as the driver of Campos Racing’s third SEAT León for the 60th Macau GP weekend, but will now instead race for Brothers Racing Team in the Audi R8 LMS Cup on the first of the two Macau GP race weekends.

Yukinori Taniguchi will already be driving the team’s third car at Shanghai this Sunday, and the option is therefore open for the Japanese driver to retain the seat at Macau and challenge for the inaugural Eurosport Asia Trophy.

Taniguchi currently leads the standings and is the only driver confirmed to be taking part in all three Asian rounds with a current specification (turbocharged) car.
