Adrien Tambay happy with fourth consecutive points-finish
Audi’s Adrien Tambay is pleased with sixth place at Zandvoort; his fourth consecutive points-finish of the 2013 DTM season.
The Abt team driver qualified 10th, but drove strongly to finish sixth come the end of the 44-lap race.
Despite being happy with his result, the Frenchman believes a fourth place finish would have been possible, had it not been for the late Safety Car which was deployed after the collision between Jamie Green and Dirk Werner on lap 37.
Tambay lost out on the position after the field bunched up behind the Safety Car.
When it returned to the pits a handful of laps later, fellow Audi driver, Mattias Ekström, managed to take advantage of the close field, and went from seventh to fourth over the final few laps, after outstanding charge by the Swede on new option tyres.
“I’m pleased,” said Tambay. “We scored some good points [and] moving forward from tenth to sixth place was very good.
“I had a great race with a good pace and nice overtaking manoeuvers, [and] my car ran perfectly the whole weekend.
“I could have finished in fourth place, [but] unfortunately, the Safety Car thwarted my plans.”
