Steve Horne and Neil Crompton to V8 Supercars Commission
Steve Horne and Neil Crompton have been appointed to the V8 Supercars Commission. Horne takes over from Mark Skaife as Chairman.
“I view this role as continuing the great work already done by Mark and the Commission. I want to provide a sounding board for key players’ thoughts and ideas, to make strong and sensible decisions and bring a strategic thought process to those key decision making moments,” said Horne.
Horne is a V8 SuperTourer team owner and has got a long experience in motorsport, spanning from starting his own IndyCar team in the USA to working as a mechanic.
“I am delighted the Commission has appointed Steve and Neil to these important positions for the sport. The role of Commission Chairman needs to be an independent, strong and robust leader. They need to effectively manage the Commission and its process, make the tough decisions, broker compromise where required and be a good communicator. Steve has all of these traits,” said V8 Supercars CEO James Warburton.
Crompton, who retired from full time racing in V8 Supercars in 2002 and has most recently commentated the races, has been appointed Independent Commissioner, replacing Chris Lambden.
“Neil has an amazing depth of knowledge of V8 Supercars which he imparts with great wisdom on and off the television screen. I have met very few people with such an extensive understanding of the industry combined with an amazing passion. Neil will be a great successor to Chris who did such an outstanding job in the first two years of the Commission,” said Warburton.
