Yvan Muller sets free practice two pace at Suzuka
RML’s Yvan Muller claimed fastest time in the second free practice session at Suzuka ahead of Alex Macdowall and Norbert Michelisz.
Muller set his quickest time of 54.076s with ten minutes remaining of the half hour session, taking top-spot from Macdowall, who was P1 for most of the session.
Behind the quickest three drivers, Honda driver Gabriele Tarquini was fourth, ahead of the two SEATs of Fernando Monje and Rob Huff, who rounded out the top six.
Pepé Oriola managed to break into the top ten with 13 minutes to go, but eventually had to settle for the 13th quickest time behind the wheel of his Chevrolet Cruze.
Honda’s Takuya Izawa was the best placed of the Japanese drivers in 14th, 0.673s behind Muller’s best time.
The entire 29-car field was covered by 3.448 seconds.
