Mike Rockenfeller quickest in Oschersleben practice
Audi’s Mike Rockenfeller went quickest in the free practice session of a weekend which could see him crowned the 2013 DTM champion.
The drivers’ championship leader set his fastest time of 1m20.947s in the dying stages of the 90-minute session, to put himself at the top of the time-sheets ahead of BMW’s Dirk Werner.
Abt Audi’s Timo Scheider finished third ahead of team-mate Adrien Tambay and, Rosberg Audi’s Filipe Albuquerque, who was quickest earlier in the session.
Gary Paffett, who will make his 100th DTM start on Sunday, rounded out the top-six, despite taking a trip through the gravel at Turn 7.
He finished ahead of seventh and eighth placed men, Edoardo Mortara and Nurburgring winner, Robert Wickens.
Jamie Green rounded out the top-10 in his Abt Sportsline Audi.
Marco Wittmann and Roberto Merhi were the sole casualties of the session, with the BMW out-braking himself at the first corner, with Merhi doing the same.
Despite both cars being undamaged, a red-flag was brought out to clear debris from the track.
