Bruno Spengler sure BMW’s set-up issues fixed
Reigning DTM champion, BMW’s Bruno Spengler, believes the team has fixed the set-up issues which caused its poor showing last time out at the Lausitzring.
Whilst he took victory at Spielberg, the team Schnitzer driver qualified fifth at the Lausitzring, then finished the race in a disappointing seventh as the best placed of the BMW drivers.
However, going into the Bavarian manufacturer’s home race at the Norisring this weekend, Spengler is confident that the team is on top of the problems which saw it finish behind rivals BMW and Mercedes at the Lausitzring.
“The problem at the Lausitzring was that we started out with the wrong basic set-up,” Spengler told TouringCarTimes. “The short time available on a race weekend was not enough to completely correct this initial error.”
“However, the following week we ran some tests [at the Lausitzring], from which we learned a lot.
“I am confident that we will be far more competitive again at the Norisring, which is my favourite circuit.”
Despite being tied on points with drivers’ standings leader, Audi’s Mike Rockenfeller, Spengler feels that the title, much like 2012, will come down to the final race at Hockenheim.
“I am convinced that the title race will be exciting right down to the final race, and that every point scored could be crucial come the end of the season.
“To me, it makes no difference whether I am the hunter or the hunted.”
