Honda Racing Team collect Team of the Year award

Multiple champions Honda Racing Team have been presented with their Best Team of 2012 award, voted for by readers of TouringCarTimes.

The team dominated the 2012 BTCC by claiming all three titles, with drivers Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal finishing 1-2 in the drivers’ championship after a total of 13 victories during the season.

Honda Racing Team got 39% of the votes with BMW Team Schnitzer in second on 25% and Zengő Motorsport in third with 18%.

The award was presented to team manager Peter Crolla at Donington Park.

He said: “The website is fantastic – to have a site purely devoted to touring car racing is great, and we rely on it quite a lot to find out what is going on.

“On behalf of all the lads here, we really appreciate it. It is quite a die-hard news site, and this comes from people who have genuinely voted for us.

“We took five championships with that car in 2012 and we have just got to go and do it all again this year.”
