Augusto Farfus thrilled with ‘Rookie of the Year’ award
BMW’s Augusto Farfus has voiced his delight at winning TouringCarTimes’ Rookie of the Year award for 2012, despite receiving the trophy seven months since the Hockenheim season finale.
The RBM team driver scored a total of 69 points in his debut season and finished seventh overall in the standings.
Along the way, Farfus also claimed a pole to flag maiden victory at Valencia, as well as taking pole at the last race of the year.
“My first year in the DTM was amazing,” Farfus told TouringCarTimes.
“You never know when you go to a new series how successful you will be, but I can’t envisage a better rookie year for me in this fantastic series.
“It was also very gratifying to have such great comments about my performance from both the media and the fans.
“I never take anything for granted, so when I was told I had been awarded the TouringCarTimes Rookie Award for 2012 this was a great moment, and I want to say a big thank you to the website and all its followers.
“I shall try my hardest now to keep up this performance for all the loyal fans.”
