Timo Scheider aiming to ‘show off’ in qualifying
Audi’s Timo Scheider is aiming to “show off” his car’s performance in qualifying at Brands Hatch this afternoon.
The double DTM champion finished this morning’s practice session in third position, two places behind the pace setting BMW of Marco Wittmann, and one behind Audi stablemate Mike Rockenfeller.
As a result, Scheider – who claimed pole two weeks ago at Hockenheim – is aiming for another strong qualifying performance.
“It was tricky out there, but it’s always difficult here anyway” the 2008 Brands Hatch winner told TouringCarTimes. “However, we looked quick, so now it’s time to show off in qualifying.”
Scheider also said the weather conditions at the British circuit favour the team’s RS5 car, but admitted it is still lacking in outright pace compared to the BMWs.
“I think the conditions will suit us as it’s quite cool and as you saw, we were good in free practice.
“But [however] it’ll be tricky as we still need to find a few tenths here and there.”
Qualifying for tomorrow’s race will begin at 13:40 GMT.
