Aaron Steele joins Vuik Racing for ETCC

Formr single-seater driver Aaron Steele will join Dutch team Vuik Racing for the final two rounds of the 2013 FIA European Touring Car Cup in Italy and the Czech Republic, driving one of the team’s two Mercedes C200s.

Steele won the 2011 MSV F3 Cup Class A and last year drove selected rounds in the series plus an appearance in the 2012 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race at Daytona.

The 23-year-old will make his tin-top debut in the first of two standalone events of the ETCC on July 14th, and is also targeting entering the British Touring Car Championship next year in a Next Generation Touring Car-spec car run by new team RGM Motorsport.

Steele will drive one of Vuik Racing’s Mercedes C200 Super 2000 specification cars in the ETCC, acquired from Swedish team G-Rex Motorsport where they’ve been competing in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship before that series’ made the switch to Solution-F cars for this season.

“We had planned to find a driver for the full championship from the beginning of the year, so now we can show what we can do with our Mercedes C200 S2000 cars,” said Team Principal Henk Vuik.

“Vuik Racing and the Swedish team G-Rex Motorsport will work together on this project and we plan to show some good results together with Aaron, so we will be able to be a contender for the next season between the regular S2000 cars.”

The team are hopeful of raising the budget to run the second car alongside Steele as well for the final two rounds of this year’s ETCC.
