Christian Klien to race at Brno in a BMW M3
Christian Klien will make a return to the Superstars Series at Brno. The former Grand Prix driver, who took a win last year in the Maserati Quattroporte in a wild card drive for Swiss Team in Hungary, will drive a BMW M3 E92 prepared by Scuderia Giudici at Brno, where the now ageing Bavarian cars are likely to stand a chance of being at the front due to the nature of the track.
The Austrian, who will also make his ADAC Procar Series debut this weekend at Spa at the wheel of a BMW 320si, gladly accepted the offer. Klien’s win at Hungary last year came after a fierce fight with WTCC regular Norbert Michelisz, who was driving the very same car as he will drive at Brno.
“I never drove at Brno, it will be a new challenge”, said Klien. “It’s a very technical track and it suits the BMW M3 E92. I’m glad that I will drive for a very professional and competitive team. I will do my best to make it to the top straight away, although I will have fierce rivals especially in the form of the Audis, whose four wheel drive will make them hard to overtake, but I want to have fun and – why not? – go back on the top step of the podium.”
It is not clear whether the Austrian will take part in more races of the Superstars Series or it will just be a one-off appearance like he did last year.
The Superstars Series will race in Brno on May 19th, with Fabrizio Giovanardi, Edoardo Piscopo and Christian Klien on the grid making it an even more exciting and competitive field.
