Video: Volvo Polestar Racing aiming high after strong test
Volvo Polestar Racing emerged on top after the first and only official STCC pre-season test at Knutstorp last week. Robert Dahlgren was fastest overall from the three days of testing and the Volvo driver is aiming high.
“I have got the best possible start to the year, the fast times came without effort. I am in the top to stay for the rest of the season,” said Dahlgren.
Last year’s TTA champion Fredrik Ekblom was second best Volvo driver with third fastest time overall, right behind BMW’s Fredrik Larsson.
“The test days have been frustrating at some points, surprising at some points, great fun at some points, but overall really good. The coming weeks ahead of the season start is all about analyzing the test data together with our engineer Jan Andersson to find a real ‘killer setup’,” said Ekblom.
Linus Ohlsson, who was the only driver able to challenge Ekblom for the title last year, was seventh fastest overall.
“We have made a lot of progress during the test days, but I am not pleased yet. There is more to do and I am going to work hard with the team ahead of the season start to analyze the data we have gathered,” said Ohlsson.
STCC and Volvo newcomer Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte had his first ever run in the Volvo S60 STCC and was pleased with the three days of testing.
“My impressions from the test days are many. We have taken a couple of important steps forward, but there is still a lot to do. The car is great fun to drive and I feel at home with the team,” said Prince Carl Philip.
