Gabriele Tarquini fastest in Monza test

Gabriele Tarquini was fastest in pre-season testing at Monza, as eight teams took the Italian circuit ahead of the opening round of the 2013 WTCC next weekend.

Tarquini set the quickest time in the Honda Civic Super 2000 TC ahead of Spaniard Pepe Oriola in the Tuenti Racing SEAT León. Tarquini’s Honda Racing Team JAS team-mate Tiago Monteiro third fastest over the two day testing session.

As always with pre-season testing, set-up was the priority for the teams instead of flat-out fastest times.

Tom Coronel was the fastest of the BMW drivers, just over a second down on Tarquini’s benchmark in fourth, with Fernando Monje in the Campos Racing SEAT León WTCC fifth fastest overall and the top of the independents’ class runners at the test.
